“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

MATTHEW 25:40

Headings_where-is-the-church

Every second someone is unable to find legal help for crushing issues such as health, housing, employment, family, consumer, contracts and more. That’s over 100,000 people a day, and 36.6 million people a year. Abandoned and alone in their legal issues, where can they turn? If the church does not step up to serve the needs of the afflicted, who will show them the love of Christ?

God has blessed his church, but how is she fully giving back to Him when the "least of these" among us are still suffering?

GOD'S CHARGE TO HIS PEOPLE

"But this is a people plundered and looted; they are all of them trapped in holes and hidden in prisons; they have become plunder with none to rescue, spoil with none to say, 'Restore!'"

ISAIAH 42:21-22

ISAIAH 42:21-22

“Do not deny justice to your poor people in their lawsuits.”

Exodus 23:6

"Do not deprive the foreigner or the fatherless of justice, or take the cloak of the widow as a pledge.”

Deuteronomy 24:17

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

Micah 6:8

“Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked."

Psalm 82:3-4

“Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you.”

Psalm 89:14

“The Lord works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.”

Psalm 103:6

“Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”

JAMES 2:15-17

One powerful way to bring the gospel and justice to your neighbors is through legal ministry. Gospel Justice Initiative equips your church to be like the Good Samaritan, to rescue and restore your neighbors from oppressive legal issues. Will you be like the church leaders Jesus talked about who missed their opportunity to serve the devastated neighbor on life’s Jericho Road? Or, will you be like the Innkeeper and the Good Samaritan and offer a place of refuge?

Be the place of refuge. Be the inn.  Read the book, Gospel Justice.
